The Fauve effect of the Brabantpainters comes forward in the impressionistic style of Paerels. The three dimensional illusion is nicely introduced by the new horizon of the porch of the terrace.

Willem Paerels, geboren in Delft (Nederland) 1878 hij stierf in Braine-l'Alleud (België) 1962. Willem Paerels had bij zijn geboorte de Nederlandse nationaliteit maar hij veranderde naar de Belgische nationaliteit.
Hij was autodidact. Eerst schilderde hij impressionistisch, daarna volgde hij de fauvistische stroom en uiteindelijk was hij bij de Flamish expressionistische schilders. Willem Paerels schilderde portretten, figuren, stillevens en landschappen.
Werken van Willem Paerels in musea in Antwerpen en Brussel (België), het Haags Gemeentemuseum (Den Haag) en Museum Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
