Biography Wim Strijbosch
Wim (Willem) Strijbosch (Amsterdam 1928-1968) earned his living by painting wooden furniture. He studied Graphic Design at the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs in Amsterdam until 1947, receiving instruction from notable figures like painter Mark Kolthoff and designer Mart Stam.
In 1951, Strijbosch joined Creatie, where he formed many friendships. As an introvert, he sought self-reflection, infusing his works with poetic expression. His creations from 1949-1953 often depict a cosmic environment, influenced by Paul Klee. Although Strijbosch primarily focused on geometric-abstract compositions, he painted them freehand.
