- About the artist
Jan Teunissen (1949) grew up in Zeelst, near Eindhoven. Jan currently lives and works in nearby Best. Largely as an autodidact, he has become proficient in the craft of realistic painting.
Jan's oil paintings are characterized by a very high level of reality. These are often still lifes in an atmosphere of claire obscure. Light and shadow play an important role. In addition, he paints objects almost exactly as large as they actually are. These are often everyday objects, from our own garden.
In his paintings he concentrates on the smallest details and reflections. This love and attention is clearly reflected in his work.
