Student of Jan Vrolijk and of the Hague Academy conducted by Frits Jansen. Painted various subjects, but the landscape predominated with him. Received several medals. Was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and St. Lucas in Amsterdam, and in The Hague of Pulchri Studio and the Haagse Kunstkring.
