He was een Dutch painter. He studied at the Rotterdamse Akademie voor Beeldende Kunsten. He was a member of the Pulchri Studio in The Hague. He is considered to be a real Hague School artist. He is known for his landscapes, polders and lakes but as well cityscapes and mills. He made lithographs, drawings and paintings.
