About the artist

Suzan Drummen is a visual artist. ‘As an artist I make multidisciplinary works in the media of painting, photography, installation and public art. The works are are a playful investigation of space, illusion, optical effects and other visual phenomena …’ (Suzan Drummen). From 1987–1988 she studied at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, from 1988-1990 at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam, and from 1990-1991 at the Nederlands Instituut (Dutch Institute) at Rome.

She had many exhibitions in Holland and abroad: Bonnefantenmuseum (Maastricht, 1996), ‘The Presentation’ (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, 2002), ‘Extraordinary’ (Westfries Museum, Hoorn, 2010), ‘Beyond Beauty’ (Museum Valkhof, Nijmegen, 2012), ‘Kunst4kids’ (Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, 2012), ‘Chinese New Year Installation’ (Honkong, 2014), ‘I am not doing anything until I feel the need’ (De Nederlandse Bank Amsterdam, 2014), in: Art Festival Museum Sjarjah, United Arab Emirates (2015), ‘KLEUR Installation’ (De Meerse, Hoofddorp, 2017). In 2003 Suzan Drummen was appointed teacher of visual art for the Bachelor fine arts at Minerva in Groningen, and she was a visual art teacher Bachelor fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy from 2009 to 2012.
