    This oil painting was made by G.J. Delfgaauw and is executed in oil on canvas in bright colours. The work depicts a farmer’s wife feeding chickens. It has recently been cleaned and is ready to be hung.

    Gerardus Johannes Delfgaauw (Monster, April 2, 1882 – Rijswijk, October 21, 1947) was a Dutch painter. After training at the Hague Academy of Art around the turn of the century, he worked in a naturalistic-impressionist style. He painted many landscapes and cityscapes, including views of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht, and Delft. His oeuvre also includes a series of dynamic Rotterdam harbour scenes, featuring subjects such as the Nieuw Amsterdam and the Statendam moored at the Wilhelminakade.

    Gerardus Johannes Delfgaauw, (Monster, 2 aprile 1882 – Rijswijk, 21 ottobre 1947) è stato un pittore olandese.

    Dopo essersi formato all'Accademia di disegno dell'Aia verso la fine del secolo, Gerard Delfgaauw lavorò in uno stile naturalistico-impressionista. Dipinse molti paesaggi e paesaggi urbani (tra cui Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht e Delft). Il suo lavoro include una serie di vedute dinamiche del porto di Rotterdam, tra cui il Nieuw Amsterdam e lo Statendam ormeggiato alla Wilhelminakade.

    Ci sono dipinti di Delfgaauw, che sono stati firmati da un mercante d'arte con H. van Gessel; questo è durato solo per un breve periodo di tempo. I dipinti che portano la firma di K. Schilderspel o J. van Delden non hanno nulla a che fare con il lavoro di GJ Delfgaauw. Questi nomi sono stati utilizzati per motivi commerciali per la vendita di opere non realizzate da Delfgaauw. La ricerca storico-artistica ha mostrato che questi dipinti sono completamente diversi sia nello stile che nella tecnica; non sono difficili da distinguere per gli esperti da un vero Delfgaauw.
