Born in 1943, Eja Siepman van den Berg completed her studies at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam in 1967. Her sculptures have been showcased and acquired by numerous museums throughout the Netherlands.

Eja Siepman's creative process revolves around meticulously observed poses. These can take the form of a step or a zigzag movement in knees and back. Occasionally, within these postures, a subtle form of expression emerges, perhaps reflecting resilience or determination. At other times, the pose appears as a purely formal element, even stemming from a seemingly trivial origin.

For instance, the zigzag stance caught her attention from an advertisement photo for stockings. Regardless, each artwork originates within her thoughts rather than being directly inspired by a live model. If a model was involved at all, it was only briefly, for the purpose of capturing reference photographs or creating a wax model that would later be enlarged.

The final embodiment of the artwork comes to life during the meticulous detailing of the enlarged wax model, involving countless delicate refinements of surface and sculptural form. This process occurs before the wax model is eventually sent to the bronze caster, taking on its definitive form.
