Valéry Vecu Quitard's favorite subjects are illustrations of stories, myths, historical anecdotes, images and popular culture in the broadest sense of the word (cinema, literature, science, visual arts, history, etc.).
He works in two styles: still lifes in combination with the trompe l'oeil technique and paintings in a surrealistic style. The latter are imbued with a touch of fantasy, symbolism and tenderness thanks to its subtle palette.
He mixes baroque details, poetry and an outdated, childlike universe with moderate surrealism. Topics are largely focused on days gone by and nostalgia. The paintings are inhabited by animals dressed in period costumes in childlike poses.
