About the artist

Pierre van Soest was born on October 14, 1930 in Venlo and settled in Amsterdam in 1947.

From 1947 to 1949 he attended the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and received the Royal Subsidy for free painting in 1953 and 1954.

From 1964, Pierre van Soest lived and worked alternately in Amsterdam and Helle (Nuth, South Limburg).

From 1965-1966 and 1969-1971 he taught at De Ateliers 63 in Haarlem and from 1972-1987 at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in 's-Hertogenbosch.

He has worked extensively in the field of monumental art and executed wall paintings and concrete reliefs in public and private buildings in the Netherlands.

Pierre van Soest passed away on January 2, 2001.
