Jeroen Dercksen is a painter and draftsman who is specialized in various painting disciplines. His oeuvre varies from abstract to figurative works; portraits, landscapes and flowers. Much of his work consists of acrylic paint on canvas.
Dercksen often starts his abstract works with an underlayer, in which chance plays a major role. Wonderful shapes and colors are created within this spontaneous working process. After this first layer is completed, Dercksen proceeds thoughtfully to add structure. His artworks are products of his knowledge and experience, which he has gained over the years.
“My aim is to make paintings and drawings that are pure and artless. The work must be made visible with attention and craftsmanship.
I want to focus on the only thing that is really of value: the positive power of people, of flowers, of landscapes and harmonious abstract paintings. I do this by presenting the subjects in isolation from their context”.
