About the artist
Amelia Anderson’s (1997) work explores the ethereal beauty and ephemeral nature of clouds, capturing their fleeting presence in the vastness of the sky. Working from an admiration for the changing canvas of nature, she creates clouds that are sometimes only fleeting, reflecting the transient and ever-changing nature of our world.
Amelia has always been fascinated by the sky. From a young age, she found solace in the ever-changing shapes and colours of clouds, in which she could discover her own stories. Amelia’s journey as an artist led her to experiment with different media, always striving to capture the elusive beauty of clouds.
Her breakthrough came when she began using reflective materials in her paintings. These materials added a unique dimension to her work, making the clouds shimmer and glow as if illuminated from within. Some clouds seem almost tangible, while others seem to dissolve into the surrounding light. This contrast embodies the fleeting and ephemeral nature of clouds’ existence for Amelia.
Her studio became a sanctuary, filled with canvases that danced with light and shadow. Each painting was a meditation on the transient nature of life and a reminder that even the darkest clouds have a silver lining. Amelia’s art is a celebration of light and hope, a testament to the idea that even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of light shining through. Her mixed media works serve as a reminder to look beyond the surface and find the beauty in the world around us, embracing the light within.
