Adri van Rooijen was born in Amsterdam in 1936. Here he studied at the Academy of Architecture and later he also followed an evening course as a sculptor at the State Academy of Art. There he was a student of the Venezuelan-born Nynke Schepers and the Amsterdammer Cor Hund, who also taught Jan Wolkers." From 1963 to 1972 I studied with Prof. C. Hund and Nynke Jelles-Schepers. I did model drawing with Wim Vaarzon Morel. The function of working at the Rijksakademie was learning to see."Various of Van Rooijen's works can be found in the public space in Lelystad, Culemborg and Voorthuizen. In addition, some of his sculptures also belong to the collection of the Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen.
