This panther is relaxing on a rock, making his or her toilet. As we know from all felines and also from our pet the cat. But what the sculptor also shows are the impressive muscles. You can sense that this animal may be cleaning up in a relaxed way now, but that it is also capable of acrobatic turns, super acceleration and athletic jumps. So clever of Fiot to put all this in this sculpture. The sculpture shows traces of fingerprints in the clay everywhere, and the signature is written in the wet clay like a signature. - About the artistFiot was born in Le Grand-Pressigny on January 22nd 1886. he was for a long time the pupil of Prosper Lecourtier. Fiot exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1910 till the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Most of the recorderd works by him consists mainly of birds, dogs , wild cats and other wild animals. His style is considered to be very modern in appearance by comparison to the other fellow artists in that period . Most of his works were casts by the Susse Frères foundry but some of his earlier bronzes were cast by other foundries.
