  • About the artwork
Rénald Pierre was born in 1988 in Châtillon-sur-Seine, France.
After training in stone carving, engraving and orn-amentation, he dove deeper into different sculpture techniques parallel to studying a bachelor’s degree in art history. Since 2010 Pierre has dedicated himself solely to sculpture, heavily implicating him-self at every stage of the creative process.
It is primarily through his work with stone and clay, but also wood and bronze, that he expresses his talent. Pierre finds his inspiration in the animal world and nature. With this special affinity for animals, Pierre’s powerful sculptures unveil a fascinating glimpse of the animal kingdom.
  • About the artist

Rénald Pierre (1988, Châtillon-sur-Seine, France) is a contemporary French artist whose work explores the relationship between material, form and the quiet narratives embedded in everyday environments. Raised in the historic Burgundy region, Pierre developed an early sensitivity to landscape, texture and the traces of time in both natural and man-made settings—elements that continue to inform his artistic language.

Working across painting, drawing and mixed media, Pierre creates compositions that balance structure with spontaneity. His work often combines gestural mark-making with carefully constructed surfaces, resulting in pieces that feel both deliberate and organic. Subtle layers, tonal contrasts and fragmented forms suggest movement, memory and transformation, inviting viewers to interpret the work through their own associations.

Pierre’s visual vocabulary reflects an interest in the tension between abstraction and representation. While many of his works appear abstract at first glance, they frequently hint at architectural elements, landscapes or human presence. This ambiguity allows the viewer to move between recognition and imagination, discovering new details with each encounter.

Living and working in France, Rénald Pierre continues to develop a practice that is rooted in observation yet open to experimentation. His work seeks to capture fleeting impressions and translate them into visual structures that resonate beyond the immediate image, offering a contemplative space between reality and abstraction.
