- About the artworkNatasja Alers’ "Tepelvaas #7" is a 12 x 6 x 6 inch ceramic sculpture from her "Tepelvaas" series. This vividly colored vase combines organic shapes with hand-sculpted textures in a palette of coral red, bright yellow, and soft pink. Created from molded impressions of human nipples, the work addresses taboos surrounding the female body with playful yet provocative intent. Its smooth, glazed surface contrasts with raw, unglazed accents, enhancing the tactile interplay of textures. Signed on the underside.Alers’ work evokes comparisons to the sensuous forms of Constantin Brâncuși and the bold feminist statements of Judy Chicago. Rooted in themes of body positivity and vulnerability, the Tepelvaas series aligns with contemporary dialogues in art about gender and identity. The dynamic composition and layering of elements bring to mind Constructivist principles of stacking and assembling, reinterpreted through a feminist lens. This piece is both functional and sculptural, making it a striking addition to any collection.
