- About the artist
Dik Nicolai (1975) is an independent Dutch portrait photographer. Signed with NICOLAII, he produces his art with full energy. Nicolaii's own collection began to grow in Spain as early as the late 1990s. He lived there for a period in the Catalan countryside. In his studio, objects were created from old pottery, glass, and stones that he collected on the dry riverbank of San Salvador (Catalonia). Exhibited in Barcelona, sold in various countries.
The collection of raw materials, combined with gold and crystal, is called TRASHTHETICS. These are abstract portraits made from pre-glued characters. They have been photographed, printed, framed, and signed. A maximum of 10 copies of each work are printed.
Using personal objects and carefully chosen ingredients, I create a modern still life that captures your story in one powerful, timeless work of art. For private individuals, it becomes a tangible memory – a visual translation of who you are, what you are experiencing, or what you wish to preserve. For companies such as Koninklijke ERU, it forms a unique and distinctive image that brings together identity, history, and vision in a single visual statement. I also offer interior stylists and designers art that blends seamlessly into a space—or conversely, forms a powerful focal point. My sculptures add character, layering, and a personal story to every interior.
Each work is entirely custom-made.
One story. One composition. One unique image.
