Sul l'artista
Cornelis Mahu è stato un pittore fiammingo di nature morte, dipinti di genere e paesaggi marini. Mahu nacque ad Anversa nel 1613. Esistono poche informazioni sulla sua vita precedente, anche se sappiamo che sposò Brigitta Wolfvoet, figlia del pittore/mercante d'arte Victor Wolfvoet I nel 1633. Mahu morì ad Anversa nel 1689. Attraverso il suo lavoro possiamo se Mahu era un pittore versatile che praticava vari generi. Ha mostrato un alto livello di maestria anche nella composizione.
