Large exhibition by Charlot Terhaar sive Droste 14 to 17 May 2026
Step inside the impressive space of the church in Breukelen, where the work of Charlot Terhaar sive Droste comes fully into its own. During this major solo exhibition, more than 40 paintings are presented, including a series of new works on display here for the first time. A unique opportunity to experience her oeuvre in its entirety. This exhibition is part of the Kunstronde Vecht en Plassen. Let yourself be surprised by the combination of monumental space and expressive painting.
Charlot's work has received multiple awards and is included in various private and corporate collections.
In 2024, she won 1st prize at the EuropArtFair 2024 at the Westergasfabriek (Amsterdam), determined by a jury of gallery owners and art collectors. In 2023, Charlot was selected to participate in ‘ArtistMeeting’ at Grand Casino in Knokke. And at the International Art Fair (IAF) in Rotterdam, she received a 2nd prize, the ‘Best Artist Award.’
Since 2003 (after graduating from the Royal Academy of Art), Charlot has been developing her semi-abstract style, which remains highly recognizable and distinctive to this day.
Charlot’s paintings are created intuitively using various techniques. She explores ‘worlds’ of chaos and harmony, aiming to find the right balance between them. This is a layered and organic process that alternates between spontaneity and control, roughness and refinement, and free forms versus placed details.
