Title: Vogue Giraffe
Technique: mixed media
Size: 150x100cm
The artwork “Vogue giraffe” by Costum Debiet features a giraffe on the cover of the famous fashion magazine “Vogue”, surrounded by illustrations of flowers. The combination of the image of a wild and exotic animal with the glamorous aesthetic of fashion is interesting and captivating. The mixed media technique used in the artwork creates a vibrant texture, with abstract and figurative elements combined in a harmonious composition. The choice of placing the giraffe on the cover of Vogue can be interpreted as a critique of superficiality and the obsession with fashion and physical appearance, but it can also be seen as a celebration of the unique and uncommon beauty of each individual. “Vogue Giraffe” is an artwork that challenges the norms of fashion and questions what is considered “beautiful” or “elegant”. With dimensions of 150x100cm, the piece will certainly catch the attention of the viewer and provoke reflections on the relationship between fashion and identity. - About the artist
Max van Alphen, born in 1975 in Tilburg, started creating paintings with charcoal, chalk and oil paint in 2000. Over time he turned to graffiti and airbrush art. In recent years he has also delved into photo (pop) art, using acrylic paint, professional spray cans, paint rollers, molds and stencils. He mastered most of these techniques through self-study. He finds his inspiration in everyday things.
His primary focus is on capturing works of art through luxury airbrush art. He also applies modern photo art techniques with rich color palettes to create unique dream images. Max works on his works of art impulsively and without a preconceived plan. It is always a challenge for him to effectively realize the images that arise in his head on canvas or another surface.
