All unique pieces. - About the artist
Self-taught Ben Kleyn started making portrait drawings at a young age. Subsequently, he developed into a successful portrait photographer of well-known Dutch people, after which he concentrated on painting hyper-realistic “fish landscapes”. And he continues to follow his own path in all his forms of expression.
By nature he understands the art of observing well, and he has excellent hand-eye coordination. As a result, he is able to create realistic works of art that transcend reality. Three-dimensional paintings that especially cause amazement.
Ben Kleyn knows how to create a hyper-realistic reality with his “fish landscapes” in a unique way.
What makes his work special is not only the technique he applies, but also the form he chooses to achieve a three-dimensional representation.
He uses handmade, often bronze, (singing) bowls in which he builds up his image on several layers of epoxy with acrylic paint. Sometimes up to 25 layers of epoxy are painted. This creates a great depth effect in his work.
His artworks are time consuming to manufacture and have a long lead time due to the drying time (24-48 hours) per coat of epoxy.
Craftsmanship, patience and perfection are rewarded in an enchanting hyper-realistic work of art.
