Francisco Travassos Valdez (1825-1892) was a noted travel writer and anti-slavery campaigner. He wrote a book about his journey to the Sunda islands, Timor, Java, Indochina, India, Arabia, Egypt and back to Lisbon. It was published in 1866. He also wrote Africa occidental.
