About the artist

Benoît Trimborn (1976, Schiltigheim, near Strasbourg, France) is a French painter. He is renowned for his large-scale, stunning landscapes in oil on canvas. Trimborn, trained as an architect, categorises his work as ‘contemporary impressionism’. His approach to ordinary things is original. He emphasises the ethereal quality of light and focuses on the natural world. His work brilliantly captures the changing seasons, the fleeting visions reflected in his pools of water and the complex relationship between light, water and the sky. ‘The landscapes I paint are very familiar to me, these are the ones of my native region. It is more exactly the space of the countryside, the morphology of the landscapes which hold my attention. I evoke its inhabitants and its most common cultures (cows, rabbits, crows; corn, wheat, vineyards, colza, hop field)’ (Trimborn). Since 2005, he had many exhibitions, in France and abroad. A selection of the last years, solo shows: Axelle Fine Arts, Boston, U.S. (2015), Galerie Ariel Sibony, Paris (2016), Hugo Gallery, New York (2017); group exhibitions: Animalists – Nature, Absolute Art  Gallery, Bruges, Belgium (2015); Natur Pur, Galerie Schindel, Freiburg, Germany (2016); Affordable Art Fair, Brussels (2017).
