In the Plantagepark in Schiedam, every autumn countless leaves fall from the trees. Leaves that have fulfilled their purpose: they offered shade, they breathed with the seasons, they carried the life of the tree through summer and spring. When they fall, they dry, decay, and disappear. Nature makes space for what is new—young leaves arrive, the cycle continues.
Just as in life: what ends opens room for what begins.
Noah and Edwin gathered these fallen leaves—leaves that would otherwise be forgotten, swept away, or quietly returned to the earth. We arranged them carefully, layer upon layer, and sealed them with varnish, bronze powder, and acrylic paint. The bronze color gives them permanence: bronze does not decay, bronze does not rust, it remains.
In this work, leaves that once were destined to disappear are preserved.
They are given a new life, not as leaves, but as memory. As time made visible.
Autumn, or perhaps Eternal Autumn, captures the delicate space between passing and staying.
The painting is an homage to everything that lives, fades, and yet remains in another form. In this way, Noah has not only preserved leaves, but also a fragment of life itself—the desire to hold on to moments that otherwise slip away.
Here, autumn is not an ending.
It is remembrance.
It is continuity.
It is the echo of life made eternal.
