    Jack Hamel foi um artista dinâmico que pintou em todo o mundo. Durante suas viagens à Córsega, Itália e Indonésia, ele foi influenciado pela cor brilhante da luz. Ele pintou cidades e portos, nus e retratos. Quando não estava trabalhando, ele ficou em Amsterdam, Zandvoort, Apeldoorn e Laren. Ele foi aluno da Haagse Academie. Seu pai Willem Hamel (1860-1924) foi um conhecido pintor de animais da Escola de Haia.
