Theresia Reiniera (Theresia) van der Pant was born in Schiedam, the Netherlands, on November 27th, 1924. She was known as a sculptor and draftswoman.

Van der Pant attended the Rijksnormaalschool for Art Teachers from 1945 until 1946 and she studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1946 until 1950. She later transferred to Brussels, where she followed classes at The École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels (ENSAV). In 1953 she was awarded the Prix de Rome for sculpting.

Van der Pant's work is of figurative kind and can be seen as part of the second generation of the 'Group of Figurative Abstraction'. She often chose animals as subjects, oten focusing on the presence of the depicted animal. Later she began combining her animals with activities, such as her famous creation of a dancing bear.

When the artist was 82 years old, she ended her sculpting career. In 2013 she passed away in her home in Amsterdam, at the age of 88.
