- Sur l'oeuvre d'artHermanus Heuvel was born in Nijmegen in 1736 as son of Johannes Heuvel and Elisabeth van Hagen. In 1766 he became master-silversmith in Amsterdam. That same year he married Anna Sibilla Ruyghoud. The couple lived at Egelantierstraat in Amsterdam. As a service worker Hermanus manufactured candlesticks, baskets, sauceboats and tobacco jars until 1780. Later on he specialized in smaller objects like salts, table bells and chamber sticks. His son Johannes also became silversmith. He had his workshop at Lauriergracht in Amsterdam, where his father Hermanus died in 1810.
