Over de kunstenaar

Eugène Cicéri (1782-1868) was a French painter, born in Paris on January 27, 1813. In the beginning, Eugene was apprenticed to his father Pierre Charles Cicéri who was a landscape painter. As with many important artists of this period, Eugène was profoundly inspired by the Barbizon artists and spent much of his time in Fontainebleau and Marlotte painting the countryside. In 1851 his work was shown for the first time at the Paris Salon. The next year his Salon entry entitled: Vue Prise au bord di Loing was awarded a Second Class medal. Cicéri was also a watercolorist, lithographer, muralist and, like his father, stage set designer.
