Auguste Brouet
Biografie1872 - 1941
Over de kunstenaar
Auguste Brouet was born into a poor French family, in 1872. While under the apprentice of a lithographer, he tried to invest in his artistic education as much as possible by attending various evening classes and visiting different ateliers. Around 1902 he first started to devise original etchings, often smaller works in black and white, as they were most popular. Aside from this commercial move, Brouet remained impervious to developing modernist trends at the time. A Brouet can be recognized by a looseness of drawing and a sympathetic eye for all the lower social categories. The artist died in 1941.
