This oil painting was depicted on the invitation card of the exhibition of Paul Hugo ten Hoopen at gallery Charlotte Daneel (1990).
Paul Hugo ten Hoopen (1927) is a painter, watercolourist and essayist. For many years he worked as a professor of drawing at the 'Rijksacademie' in Amsterdam.
Figuration in his landscapes and interiors is abstracted and reduced to the essentials.
His works were created in France and Switzerland, and are determined by a simple palette of green, blue, yellow and red.

Paul Hugo ten Hoopen è nato a Doetinchem, Paesi Bassi, nel 1927. Ten Hoopen è un pittore, disegnatore, acquerellista e saggista. Ha studiato all'Accademia Statale di Belle Arti di Amsterdam e anche alla Schule des Sehens - Oskar Kokoschka di Salisburgo. Negli anni 1969-1992, ten Hoopen è stato lui stesso professore alla National Acadamy of Art di Amsterdam.
Currentyl, è membro del Circolo Acquerellista Olandese, The Keerkring e Arti e Amicitiae. Da ca. Dal 1960 in poi, Ten Hoopen ha tenuto innumerevoli mostre personali e collettive. Ha vinto anche tre premi: il Premio Kokoschka a Salisburgo nel 1958; il Grant for Travel del Ministero dell'O.K. & W nel 1965; il Premio Jeanne Bieruma-Oosting per la pittura figurativa nel 1986.
Le sue opere possono essere ammirate in musei come lo Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, il Museum Henriëtte Polak Zutphen, Het Rijk, nelle zone circostanti Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Venlo e Zeist, e nell'ABN- Edificio della banca Amro. Il suo lavoro può essere visto in diverse collezioni private anche nei Paesi Bassi e all'estero.
