Traveling in the mind, this is the subtitle of Alexander Bobkin's book. In that book is a self-portrait with jokercap from 1987. At the height of his fame in the then Soviet Union, this artist makes a fool of himself. Do not take yourself too seriously, that's a sensible way of life. It sets you free. And freedom is a condition for the artist. The traveler in the mind can go and stand whereever he wants. An intriguing world, manipulated by the painter in brilliant compositions and warm colors.
Sobre el artista
El artista Alexander Bobkin (1952, Novokuznetsk, Rusia) nació en Siberia y visitó la Academia de Artes de Jaroslavl. Bobkin es un viajero que prefiere visitar zonas aún desconocidas. Sus pinturas han sido coleccionadas por el Museo de Arte Moderno de Novokuznetsk, el Museo de Arte Regional de Kemerovo y el Museo Estatal de Arte Oriental de Moscú. En 1990 llegó a los Países Bajos y se instaló cerca del río Waal en Nijmegen, Países Bajos. Ahora es un artista que viene de un país que ya no existe: la Unión Soviética. Bobkin ofrece una vista fascinante de un mundo misterioso y, a veces, secreto que es muy diferente de su nueva tierra natal. Sus obras de arte reflejan la inmensidad de Siberia en la que uno puede viajar durante días sin que el paisaje cambie mucho o donde hay pocas posibilidades de conocer a alguien.
