- About the artistHelma Michiels is a Dutch painter, born in 1964 in Hapert, the Netherlands. She lives and works in Eersel, the Netherlands and for most of the year in Salamanca, Spain. There, she is inspired by the grand nature. She paints landscaped and nudes, for which she herself is a model. In her atelier, she has two large mirrors opposing each other so she can see herself from all sides, showing perspective and depth in her paintings. She works with wide brushes and strong movements, applying the paint in thick layers. This technique she calls ‘pintura intensa’.
