About the artwork
About the ArtistJacqueline Bozon was born in 1966 and grew up in Helmond, Noord Brabant, the Netherlands where she still works and lives. As a child she loved drawing but the art world to her seemed a distant sphere. Becoming an artist wasn’t much of a career path according to her father. So instead of going to art school Bozon attended the PABO teacher training course where she graduated in 1988. Increasingly drawn to an urge to create art she started painting murals for the classrooms. In the comfort of her home she transferred her emotions to the canvas. Self-educated she mastered a range of techniques. To develop these skills further she enrolled at the Academy of Arts after which she took an unpaid sabbatical in 2003 to pour all her energy into her painting.
Bozon is inspired by the different countries, people and cultures she encountered during her many travels around the world. Her latest work is inspired by the island of Ibiza. All the elements found on the island are incorporated in her work through a playful combination of colourful stripes. The combination of lines and stripes represents stepping stones in life with each path being different from the other.
