  • About the artist

Justin Coburn was born in 1966 in the north-east of Scotland. After studying fine arts in the 80's he started to work as a commercial designer. Now he paints professionally and fulltime. His most recent work shows his interest in animal studies. In the way he presents the animal, Coburn wants us to reflect on the relationship man has with nature and how this manifests itself on a symbolic, religious and ethical level. What is our own perception as an 'insecure' being in the world? The artist won second place as 'wildlife artist of the year 2018' and in that same year received 'the Lyon and Turnbull Award for painting' from the Royal Scottish Academy Open. In 2018 he was selected for the New Light Exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London.
