- About the artworkIn his series "Withoos meets Withoos", Dutch photographer Hans Withoos combines his still life compositions with the paintings of his direct forefather, the 17th century painter Matthias Withoos. He creates a whole new dialogue between two different disciplines of art.
- About the artist
The career of the Dutch photographer Hans Withoos (1962) spans more than twenty years, during which he combined his commissioned work with his own projects. He studied at the art academy and afterwards he established a firm with Jolanda Cats, specialising in fashion, photography and commercial video. Their clients range from large corporations to non-profit organisations. He is successful in commercial and fashion photography as well as in his independent work. He has been making many photograph series over the years, usually situated in romantic and recognisable sites and cities around the world. Hans Withoos’ photography is set in the world of opulence and decadence. It is a realm that is both familiar and different.
