    Jeanne Oosting (1898, Leeuwarden – 1994, Almen), full name Adriana Johanna Wilhelmina Bieruma Oosting, was born into an aristocratic Frisian family. She was a Dutch aquarellist, sculptor, etcher, engraver, lithographer, illustrator, glass painter, and book bind designer. Her subject matters are figures, people, portraits, still lifes, landscapes, cityscapes. She studied at the School voor Kunst en Kunstnijverheid (School of Arts and Applied Arts) in Haarlem, and the Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Academy of Fine Arts) in The Hague. Encouraged by Charlotte van Pallandt, she left for Paris in 1929, where she stayed for eleven years and studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. She was a member of Pulchri Studio (The Hague), and Arti et Amicitiae (Amsterdam). Since 1970, there is the Jeanne Oosting Award for figurative artists. Her works are included in the collections of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. She was awarded a Bronze Medal at the World’s Fair of 1937 in Paris. Jeanne Bieruma Oosting became a Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau (Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau).
