About the artwork

Gold necklace of articulated segmented elements to resemble a snakes wriggly body, terminating in a blue enameled head set with a large old cut diamond. A blue enameled heart suspended from the snake's mouth, again set with an old cut diamond. Back of the heart can hold a miniature behind a glazed frame.
In its original case.
The case is signed A.B. Savory & Sons, Corn hill London. This particular firm worked under this name and from this address from 1833 till 1866.
