Martie van der Velden calls his painting 'impressionist realistic'. A new term in art, but one that best describes it according to van der Velden.

Martie's paintings are characterized by their large dimensions and subjects from history or childhood memories. But contemporary artists such as Helmantel also inspire the artist. Every encounter with the work is a quiet enjoyment, a still-life feast.

The work of Martie van der Velden is based on the technique of the old masters, painting layer upon layer, in which the lower layers shimmer through the layers above. The paint is not diluted and is often mixed on the canvas to get an even better texture for flowers, wood, metal and bronze, etc.

You experience the work of Martie van Velden, it does something to the viewer. It often brings back childhood memories. View the collection!
