- About the artistDavid Adolph Constant Artz was born in The Hague on 18 December 1837, he died in The Hague on 8 November 1890. After studying at the Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, he moved to Paris where lived between 1866 and 1874.Thereafter he settled in The Hague. He traveled to Scotland (1869), Germany (1869), England (1870), Italy (1872). He mainly painted the life of fishermen. He exhibited in The Hague and Amsterdam and his work is included in the collections of the Rijksprentenkabinet in Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Panorama Mesdag Den Haag, Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, Museum Boymans-van Beuningen Rotterdam, Frans Halsmuseum Haarlem.
