Jacob Jan Coenraad Spohler had lessons from his father and proved himself to be a good pupil by also specialising in summer and winter landscapes. He mainly painted figures enjoying the pleasures of winter ice. He depicted endless variations of snow-covered countryside alongside expanses of reflective ice with swaying skaters and refreshment stands.
J.J.C. Spohler lived and worked in Amsterdam and regularly exhibited his paintings, among others, at the Exhibitions of Living Masters.
