About the Artist
Johan Meijer was born in Amsterdam in 1885, he died in Laren in 1970. He studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam between 1907 and 1910 and he also was a pupil of A.M. Gorter. Thereafter he studied in Paris and Brussels. He painted landscapes and animals in a neo-impressionist style. He taught W.J. Koppius and A.J. Smetz. He also was a member of the Amsterdam art societies Arti et Amicitae and St-Lucas as well as the art society “Laren-Blaricum”. He exhibited at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 1939 and Singer Museum Laren.Artwork details
