About the artist

Robert Steng (1972, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany) is a German artist. From 1992 to 1995, he trained to be a furniture maker. Subsequently, he took courses of scenery construction in Berlin. From 1997 to 2000, he studied Empirical Culture Science at the University of Tübingen. Since 2000, he lives as an artist and musician in Stuttgart and Berlin. Robert Steng's wooden compositions can be seen as belonging to very popular art movements of the twentieth century: the Post-Minimalism and the Arte Povera. His mural compositions are original and unique, as he combines materials and shapes harmoniously. He had many exhibitions. Solo shows (a selection): 2016, Galerie Von Braunbehrens, Stuttgart; 2013, ‘Empty Boxes’, Galerie Molliné, Stuttgart. Group exhibitions: (a selection): 2016, ‘Older Than Jesus’, Palermo Galerie, Stuttgart; 2015, ‘Accrochage’, Galerie von Braunbehrens, Stuttgart. His works are in the collections of Kunstmuseum Stuttgart; Edwin Scharff Museum, Neu-Ulm; Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart.
