About the artist

Reinhard Voss (1959, Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany) is a German artist specialised in creating wood sculptures. He attended the Werkkunstschule Flensburg (1979-1982) and the Fachhochschule Ottersberg, Bremen, where he studied art therapy (1986-1990). From 1993 to 1998 he trained in sculpting under prof. Hiromi Akiyama and prof. Stephan Balkenhol at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, from which he graduated in 1999. In 2000 he was granted a scholarship for graduates. Since 2000 he works as a freelance sculptor. ‘These sculptures by German artist Reinhard Voss, with their Cubist-like style, seem to give us a physical manifestation of the various faces we put on’ (Lesley Frenz). From 1995 onwards Voss had numerous exhibitions. To mention just a few: ‘Bitter Lennon,’ Kaho Gallery, Kyoto (2013), ‘L’Oeil Invisible,’ Scope New York, Galerie L’Inlassable (2014), Galerie Janzen, at Löwenpalais, Berlin (2015), KIAF, Galerie Artpark, Karlsruhe (2015). A number of his works are included among others in the collections of Marcel Burg, Strasbourg; Peggy Cooper, Washington; Reinhold Würth, Künzelsau; Hypo Vereinsbank, München.
