About the artist

Patrick Willocq has been a self-taught artist photographer for the last 25 years. He was born in 1969 and he grew up in Congo. The combination of a passion for travelling and his dedication to the documentation of the realities he witnessed in his childhood is known to have sparked his passion for the arts. In 2012 Willocq decided to devote himself entirely to art photography, inspired by a visit to the Congo after a long while. He is determined to turn around the image of the Congo and Africa. He wants to shift the focus on the countless images of war provided by the media, to a less stigmatizing situation. He doesn't think this is naive; rather a rightful optimism about the country he loves.

Willocq is based in Hong Kong, Paris and Kinshasa and works as a freelance artist.
