About the artist

Mellerio dits Meller is a French jewellery house founded in 1613. It claims to be the oldest family company in Europe and several figures of high nobility were among the clients of the house.The house was known as purveyor under Louis XIII, under the name 'Meller'. In the 19th century, Meller produced jewellery for different monarchs as well. Customers included members of the Dutch, French and Spanish royal family and the Maharadjah of Karputhala in 1905. In 1869 a famour tiara designed like a shell was made foor Quenn Isabella II of Spain. Empress Eugénie was also known to have worn pieces by Meller. Today the company is based in Rue de la Paix, Paris, with additional branches in Luxembourgh and Japan.
