About the artist

Marianne Stam is a Dutch painter who was born on 2 July 1960. She graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht in 1988. In the same year, she became a drawing teacher at the Segbroek College in the Hague. She currently lives in Rhenen. Stam works with various graphic techniques, including mezzotints and (colour) etchings. Stam is especially fascinated by specific details of objects and nature. She is inspired by memories, dreams and the female body which are rendered in organic forms and earthly colours. Besides her graphic work, Stams also makes paintings of nudes and portraits. She has had various exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad, including International Miniatur Print Exhibition (1994-1995/1997-1998, England), Kunstroute Rhenen (2003, Rhenen, The Netherlands), KunstHaus Möhnesee (2006, Möhnesee, Germany), Mezzotint exhibition “Out of Darkness” (Jekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk, Russia, 2009), Chateau de Mongazon (2010, Burgundy, France).
