Gerard Koekkoek (1871, Hilversum – 1956, Hilversum), full name Gerardus Johannes Koekkoek, was a Dutch landscapist, draughtsman, etcher, woodcutter, lithographer and restorer of paintings. Besides landscapes, he painted beach scenes, harbour views, and seascapes. His father, Johannes, Hermanus, Barend Koekkoek (1840 - 1912) taught him to paint, and Gerard took etching lessons from Pieter Dupont. He worked and lived most times in Hilversum, but also in Amsterdam, The Hague (1901-1902), Vlissingen, Germany and France. He was a teacher of Frits Hes, Johannes Oud, Johannes Sleper and Jacob Wolf. Koekkoek was a member of the Vereeniging van Beelden Kunsten (Society of Fine Arts) Laren-Blaricum, the Vereeniging van Beeldende Kunsten Hilversum, Arti et Amicitiae Amsterdam, and the Vereeniging Sint Lucas Amsterdam.
