About the artist
Dirk van der Goorbergh was a very skilled 18th century craftsman, whose work could compete with that of The Hague silversmiths at that time, by whom he was definitely influenced. However, he often added a personal touch to the rocailles which were fashionable in The Hague. A tea kettle on stand, made by Dirk van der Goorbergh in 1774, was present at the exhibition 'Rococo in Nederland', in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 2001.
