About the artist

Claas Hendrik Meiners was born in Amsterdam in 1819, he died in Arnhem in 1894. He was apprenticed to B.C. Koekkoek. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, ’s-Gravenland, The Hague and Arnhem. He was a landscape painter and one of his first pupils was his son Pieter Meiners. He was a member of “Arti et Amicitiae” in Amsterdam and the art society “Artibus Sacrum” in Arnhem. He exhibited in Amsterdam and The Hague between 1845-1893.
